IPTV EPG Guide: How Program Data Works and How to Fix Missing Listings

Learn how IPTV EPG data is matched to channels, why listings can be blank or shifted and how to refresh and troubleshoot program guides in common players.

EPG is separate data

The channel stream and program guide are related but not identical. A channel can play while its EPG is missing.

Mapping is the critical step

Players match channels to EPG identifiers. If names or IDs do not line up, guide cells can be blank.

Time-zone problems

A guide that is consistently early or late may need a time-shift or correct device time-zone setting.

Refresh strategy

Refresh the playlist first, then EPG. Clear only guide cache before rebuilding the entire account.

Large guide files

Older TVs and low-memory sticks may take longer to parse large XMLTV data.
